PENSACOLA, Fla.–The UWF Baseball Team's season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with an 8-7 loss against Tampa University in the NCAA South Regional Final.

With the loss, West Florida was eliminated from the tournament and ends their season at 37-11. The 37 wins is tied for the fifth most in the history of the program. It is also the second-highest winning percentage (.771) in school history. Tampa moves to 20-4 and advances to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships in Cary, North Carolina on June 5-12.

Jason Roberts and
Justin Dunnam led the way for the Argos with three hits on the afternoon, with Roberts also leading the team with four runs driven in.Â
Adam Imwalle and
Cullan O'Shea also had two hits apiece. The Argos finished with 14 hits on the afternoon, marking the 35
th time in 2021 that the team had 10 or more hits in a contest.

Coming back on two days rest,
Evan Floyd got his second start of the tournament as he went six innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with five walks and four strikeouts. Floyd threw over 100 pitches in both outings and got a no-decision for his performance.

Following a run by Tampa to open the first inning, O'Shea responded with a solo home run with one out in the bottom of the frame to even the game. It was O'Shea's 11
th home run of the year, making him the first Argonaut since Kaleb Barlow to hit 11 in a season and putting O'Shea into a tie for third all-time in program history for home runs in a single season.

After another three runs by the Spartans in the top of the second, UWF responded with two runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run single by Roberts, which scored Dunnam and Imwalle, making the score 4-3. West Florida added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run home run by
Dylan Menhennett, his ninth of the year, and another RBI single from Roberts to put the Argos ahead at 6-4.

UT would respond with four straight runs of their own on home runs from Jamarcus Lyons and Dan Glancy, with a sacrifice fly and RBI single from two others to take the lead.

West Florida would respond in the bottom of the ninth and score a run on All-Region Closer Jordan Leasure as Roberts ripped a double down the left-field line, before Leasure got the final out via a strikeout swinging to end the contest.

Three Spartans each had two hits, including Drew Erhard who also had four RBI's. Braydon Nelson earned the win for UT, going 2.2 innings and allowing a hit, a walk and three strikeouts.Â
Sean Means dropped to 4-2 with the loss in relief.

Multiple records were broken in the 2021 season by the UWF Baseball Team. Committing only one error in Sunday's championship game, the 2021 team now holds the mark for the highest fielding percentage in team history at .976.

Evan Floyd moved into the top 10 in winning percentage (9-1), innings pitched (99), strikeouts (106) and games started (16) in a single season.Â
Dylan Menhennett broke the school record with a 31 game-hitting streak while he also broke into the top 10 of the program's record book in runs scored (50) and total bases in a year (116). O'Shea also holds a place in the top 10 of the program in runs scored (55) and total bases (119). Both players moved into the top 10 of the school record book in slugging percentage (.620) and (.604). As a team, West Florida recorded the fifth most saves in team history with 14.

Offensively, the 2021 team moved into a tie for fifth in program history in batting average (.317) and also scored 362 runs, the fifth most in school history.
