West Florida Picks Up Two More Wins as they Sweep Spring Hill and Southern Indiana

Argonauts will look to stay unbeaten when they close out the Springhill Suites Invitational tomorrow against Palm Beach Atlantic

PENSACOLA, Fla. – After picking up a sweep in their first match of the season yesterday, the West Florida Volleyball team was back at it again Friday picking up two more sweeps against both Spring Hill and Southern Indiana.

The Argonauts who are now 3-0 on the season, will be put right back to test tomorrow when they take on fellow unbeaten Palm Beach Atlantic (2-0) in the finale of the Springhill Suites Invitational.

Against Spring Hill: In what was a match much closer than what the score depicted, the Argonauts were able to hold off the Badgers to secure their first win of the afternoon.

Led by a great offensive attack, West Florida ended the match with 48 kills and a respectable .237 hitting percentage.

Madi Cooler was once again dominant in this match picking up 15 kills over the three sets to lead the team. Veresia Yon and Tyler Fezzey each helped the cause greatly as well with Yon finishing with 10 kills while Fezzey had 8 kills.

Defensively the Argonauts were on their game again with both Ashton Marshall and Cooler collecting over 20 digs in the match. In the block column, West Florida totaled 11 total team blocks against Spring Hill with Yon having two solo blocks as well as five block assists.

Against Southern Indiana: Just over three hours since they last played, West Florida took the court again this time to take on Southern Indiana in what was another great match for the Argonauts.

Leading nearly the entire match, West Florida came out firing early and didn't slow down until the final whistle blew.

Cooler was once again a bright spot in this match as she picked up her third straight double-double backed by 17 kills. Kierra Potts, Fezzey, and Yon all had over seven kills as well in this contest as the Argonauts cruised to a 3-0 victory.

Junior setter Taylor Vaneekeren, was also a big reason for the Argonauts success tonight offensively as she tallied 39 assists in just three sets for her new season high.

Remaining Schedule: West Florida will be back in action tomorrow night as they wrap up the Springhill Suites Invitational here at the UWF Field House. Scheduled to take on Palm Beach Atlantic, first serve will be at 5:30 pm with both teams looking to end their weekend on a high note.
