By Ryan O'Callaghan

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The 13th-ranked UWF women's volleyball team atoned for it's only conference loss of the season with a dominant 3-0 win over Mississippi College at the UWF Field House on Friday night.

Playing before a loud Family Weekend crowd of nearly 500 fans, UWF (23-5, 13-1 Gulf South) hit .262 and never let the visitors get comfortable. Alex Oliver and Avery Rodgers were locked inn offensively, finishing with 11 and 10 kills, respectively as they both hit over .300 in the match. The Argonauts served up six aces, with Jacque Martin scoring three, Taylor Vaneekeren two and Lily Sumner one.

Vaneekeren had her 13th double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs. Meg Brackhan had a match-high 18 digs.

The Argos offensive attack set the tone for the match as they jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead and never looked back as they fought off two different rallies from the Lady Choctaws to take the first set 25-20. Avery Rodgers recorded 5 of her 10 kills in the first set to lead the Argos attack early on.

In the second frame the Argos fought back and forth with the Lady Choctaws as the set saw 5 different times before it was tied 20-20. The Argos offense would again step up big thanks to timely kills by Rodgers and Oliver before closing out the set 25-23. Oliver recorded 4 of her team high 11 kills in the set.

The third and final set would be the most dominant for the Argos as they quickly took a 21-12 lead before closing out the match 25-16. Kierra Potts tallied four of her seven kills and five of her 11 digs in the set to round out the balanced offensive attack.

UWF returns to action on Saturday at Noon against West Alabama for Senior Day at the UWF Field House.
