PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 1 seeded West Florida men's soccer team gears up for the Gulf South Conference Quarterfinal match on Sunday against No. 8 seeded Spring Hill. Tip off will be at 3 p.m. at the UWF Soccer Complex.

The Argonauts rank No. 11 in the national United Soccer Coaches Poll and No. 4 in the NCAA South Region ranking. UWF enters this match as the No. 1 seed in the Gulf South Conference standings with a 10-2-3 overall record and 8-0-3 conference record.
Kainan Dos Santos and Nicolas Meckien earned the GSC Weekly Awards on Tuesday as both players had an exceptional weekend against Delta State and Mississippi College. Dos Santos currently ties for first in the conference in shots (52), goals (10), and he leads the conference in points (25). The sophomore forward has scored at least one goal in eight games for the Argos. Against the Choctaws, Dos Santos had both goals for the Argos to win 2-0 and be crowned regular season champions.
Forward Keegan Ancelin and midfielder Jack Patching have been key assets to the Argo offense. Sophomore Ancelin has five goals, two assists, 12 points, and 22 shots while sophomore Patching records four goals, three assists, 11 points, and 15 shots on the season.
Freshman goalkeeper Meckien has started and played 12 games for the Argos with 1062 registered minutes. He has allowed only seven goals on the season with a GAA of 0.59. The Brazilian native records 20 saves on the season and a save percentage of 0.741. Meckien tallied three saves against the Choctaws on Sunday afternoon.
The backline of the Argo defense has only allowed an average of 7.3 shots per game led by Lucas Barankiewicz, Eduardo Quieroz, Keegan Lynch, and Fynn Geigle.
This is the first time the Argos have received a GSC regular season title since 2013. This marks their 20
th GSC tournament appearance and 16
th straight appearance since 2006.
During its current four-game winning streak, West Florida has outscored its opponents 34-10 with six shutouts. The Argonauts have out-shot their opposition 223-109.
ABOUT SPRING HILL
The Badgers were named the No. 8 seed in the GSC tournament as this is their fourth straight season SHC has appeared in the GSC Championship. Spring Hill finished the regular season 4-7-4 with a 2-5-4 conference record.
In the regular season finale, the Badgers split results with a loss to Mississippi College 2-1 on Friday and tie to Delta State 2-2 on Sunday. Freshman forward Johannes Hanken Tjostheim leads SHC in goals (10), points (20), and shots (32). As a squad, the Badgers have six shutouts on the season.
Freshman Lucas Pezzano is in the net for Spring Hill as he records eight games played with eight starts. He tallies 26 saves on the season with a save percentage of 0.722. The Badgers had the most saves with nine against Christian Brothers on 9/23.
UWF vs. SHC History
The Argonauts scored early against the Badgers in their last matchup and claimed the victory 4-1. Four different Argos scored including Keegan Ancelin, Dos Santos, Jaime Guillen, and Teavon Spencer. UWF finished with 29 shots, 11 shots on goal, and held a 9-1 lead in corner kicks. The overall series history is 18-3 with the Argos looking to increase the margin on Sunday afternoon.
