PENSACOLA, Fla. - UWF will open the eighth season of the Jeff Burkhamer era this weekend with the GSC-SIAC Crossover at the UWF Field House. The Argonauts will play Clark Atlanta on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Fort Valley State on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

Senior Daniel Sofield is a 2-time All-GSC selection and enters the season with 962 career points. Last year he became the UWF career 3-point record holder as he bring 172 makes into his fourth season in Pensacola.

Along with Sofield, Wendell Matthews, LaTrell Tate and David Petit-Homme return from a year ago, giving the Argos their top four scorers all back. In addition to averaging 13.0 points per contest, Matthews was the top inside man at both ends of the floor, averaging 6.0 rebounds a night, while finishing with 26 blocks and 28 steals.

Burkhamer is 106-85 at UWF and 324-238 in 20 seasons as a NCAA college head coach.
