Columbus, Ga. --- After taking down South Region's 1-seed Embry-Riddle 2-1, the University of West Florida women's soccer team wins their eighth South Region Championship since 2002.

Manami Okada, who tallied 90 minutes on the pitch today, put a move on a defender and hit a shot through multiple Eagle players to get on the board before the four-minute mark. This is the third NCAA Championship game in a row that the Argos have scored in under 10 minutes.

Ahnalie Layman, second of six Argo players that recorded the full 90 minutes, was awarded her seventh assists. She is tied for second most assists on the team – Layman and
Kileigh Whited have the most assists by a defender in the Gulf South Conference and region.

The teams concluded the first half with 10 shots each and the Argos had the 1-0 lead.

Nine minutes into the second half, the Eagles found the opportunity to score and make it an even game. One of the Eagles top player, Isabelle Navren, found freshman, Thea Nyberg, to score her first goal of the season.

The Argos quickly turned around and regained the lead in the 62
nd minute and held it for the remainder of the match. A pass from the half line reached
Mya Swinton who was on a run towards goals. Taking a couple touches as two Eagles players begin to approach, Swinton hit the far post to get passed the goalkeeper and score her fourth goal of the season. This is Swinton's second game-winning goal and has now scored in back-to-back games.

The Argos advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Championship that will take place at Walden Soccer Complex at Columbus, Ga. Sunday, Nov. 20 at noon against 1-seed Columbus State.
