CLEVELAND, Ohio – The UWF Athletics department is ranked No. 5 in the fall rankings of the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup for Division II as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
UWF scored 256 points – its most in a Fall segment in the award's history – while the fifth-place fall ranking is the second highest in school history. Additionally, the Argonauts recorded their fifth top-10 Fall effort in history.
The Argonauts saw all six Fall teams qualify for NCAA Regional competition, led by top 20 national finishes from football, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball.
The Argos scored 83 points for football's national semifinal performance, 73 points from women's soccer's South Region Championship and subsequent fifth-place national finish, and 50 points as a result of men's soccer and women's volleyball's 17th-place finishes nationally.
Colorado School of Mines leads the competition with 448 points, scoring in six sports. Wingate is in second place with 373 points. Grand Valley State is third with 304 points and West Texas A&M is fourth with 298 points.
The next scoring update will be on March 30 and will include points earned for the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's indoor track and field, rifle, skiing and wrestling.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed by NACDA and points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
