COLUMBUS, Ga.- In their second top-ranked match of the weekend, the No. 15 West Florida Men's Tennis Team was unable to take down No. 1 Columbus State, falling 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Argonauts move to a 12-3 record on the season.
Doubles play saw the Argos win one of the three matches as the Cougars secured the lone point in doubles.
Lluis Miralles Miro and Salvador Bandiera were able to secure a victory for the Argos from the No. 2 position, winning their match 6-3. This would be the only victory the Argos would secure in doubles.
Tomas Descarrega and
Facundo Bermejo teamed up from the No. 1 position, but lost to the No. 5 ranked doubles team from CSU 2-6.
Pedro Cordeiro and
Bernardo Costa put up a hard fight against the top-ranked Cougars, but dropped the match in a close one 4-6 from the No. 3 position.
Singles play saw the Argos secure two of the six singles matches.
As the No. 23 ranked singles player in the country,
Juan Cabrera came in from the No. 1 position falling to the No. 1 player in the nation Alvaro Regalado in a tough fight 3-6, 2-6. This moves Cabrera to 13-2 in singles on the season.
Bermejo was able to secure the first point in singles for the Argos, winning his match 7-6, 6-4 from the No. 2 position. Costa played a great match from the No. 3 position, winning the first set 7-6, dropping the second set 3-6, but fell in the tiebreaker 5-5.
From the bottom half of the lineup, Sotelo and Bandeira dropped their match from the No. 4 and No. 5 position. Sotelo won his first set 6-2, lost the second 2-6, and dropped the tiebreaker 4-6 from No. 4 position. Bandeira dropped his match 6-7, 4-5, 0-5 from the No. 5 position.
The last point would come from Cordeiro from the No. 6 position, he was victorious 7-5, 6-2.

The Argonauts will be back in action next weekend at home to face Gulf South Conference opponents Christian Brothers on Saturday and a double header on Sunday against West Georgia and Mississippi College.
