MONTEVALLO, ALA.- The UWF Women's Tennis Team defeated Montevallo on Saturday for their first GSC win in the spring season. The Argos improve to 1-3 on the season. The Argonauts look to build on that momentum as they head to West Alabama on Sunday.

"We started out well In both matches. We got up an early break of serve and we're able to maintain the lead." said head coach Derrick Racine.

In doubles, Nathalia Mossambani and Guiliana Sacco fell 2-6 from the No. 1 position to start the match. The Argonauts were able to secure the other two doubles points with Sara Yigin and Mayumi Saguchi winning 6-2 from the No. 2 position. Irene Rezuenco and her partner Raissa Wagner finished out doubles victorious 6-3 from the No. 3 position.

Heading into singles, Sara Yigin secured the first single points for the Argos win 7-5, 6-4 from the No. 1 position. From the No. 2 position, Irene Recuenco was victorious 6-3, 6-0. Mayumi Saguchi was victous from the No. 3 position, winning her match 6-1, 6-3.

In the bottom of the lineup, Nathalia Mossambani won her match 6-4, 6-3 from the No. 4 position. Raissa Wagner fell from the No. 5 position 4-1, 1-6. Guiliana Sacco put up a hard fight, but fell from the No. 6 position 0-6, 0-6.

After the match, Racine stated, "All the singles were great matches and not both teams managed to close out the close ones. It was a great match for the Argos and should give us some momentum going into tomorrow's match at West Alabama."

The Argos will be back in action for more GSC play against West Alabama on Sunday at 10 AM.
