PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 12 UWF Women's Tennis Team had a great start to their first match back at home beating Grand Valley 5-2 on Tuesday.
To start off the match, the Argonauts won two out of the three matches for doubles points. Sarah Yigin and her teammate
Mayumi Saguchi won their match 6-3 from the No. 2 position to give the Argos the first points.
Irene Recuenco and
Raissa Wagner picked up a win in their match from the No. 3 position, winning 6-3.
Nathalia Mossambani and Guilanna Sacco were just shy of a win in their match, falling short to The Lakers 4-6 from the No. 1 position.
Head coach
Derrick Racine said, "On the girl's side we played very solid doubles and won the doubles point with a great match from our #3 pair.
The Argonauts played extremely well in their singles matches as well.
Sara Yigin won her match in a tiebreaker winning 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 from the No. 1 position.
Irene Recuenco came in the No. 2 position and dominated her match 6-4, 6-0.
Mayumi Saguchi pulled out a win in a tiebreaker from the No. 3 position, winning the match 6-7, 6-3, 6-4.
In the bottom of the lineup,
Nathalia Mossambani came out on top in the No. 4 position winning 6-3, 6-4. Marissa Wagner and
Luiza Daud put up a strong fight, but ultimately dropped both of their matches from the No. 5 and No. 6 position
