Box Score Columbus, GA. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team took down the Barry Buccaneers 2-0 in a neutral matchup to win the first game of the season.
 
In less than a minute, the Argos showed their offensive power freshman Julia Comin got her first goal of the season with an assist from senior Blair Cowan. The Argos did not let up as they continued to attack and hit nine shots with another goal finding the back of the net in the 42^nd minute as freshman Isabela Labovic found Florida native, Alyssa Wilson to finish the first half.
 
Comin led the team with four shots on goal with seven different Argos combining for 12 shots to be threats around the net. As they overpowered the Buccaneers offensively, the Argos also showed their strength in the back line as the Buccaneers didn't record their first shot until the 25^th minute.
 
Leading 2-0, the Argos continued to attack in the second half as seven shots were taken while earning multiple back-to-back corner kicks. As the second half remained scoreless, the Argos outshot the Buccaneers 16-5 and took a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Transfer from Ohio State, Maciah Lipsey put on her gloves to protect the net for the first time as an Argo to shut out the Buccaneers and be awarded the win.
 
Five Argos played over 80 minutes with two of the players being freshman.
 
To conclude the 2022 Collegiate Invitational, the Argos will take on Queens University of Charlotte Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time at Walden Soccer Complex in Columbus, Georgia.
