FULL RESULTS
FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of West Florida women's cross country team put together an outstanding performance at the UNA Invitational on Saturday morning, placing third out of 15 teams with six finishers in the top 26 in the field.
The Argonauts finished just behind hosts North Alabama and Montevallo, and finished ahead of Gulf South Conference foes Auburn Montgomery and Delta State, among others. UWF's average time was just two seconds behind Montevallo's.
Freshman
Chloe Rook paced the team for a second consecutive week, finishing seventh overall. Rook clocked a 19:01.12 that was nearly 45 seconds faster than last week's time.
Skylar Grant earned her highest-ever finish for UWF, placing 10th with a 19:14.09.
Julia Alvarez Drago just just five seconds behind, taking 12th with a 19:19.57, and junior
Leah Fenton's 19:21.01 was good for 14th in the field.
Sophia Spalding finished fifth for UWF and 21st overall, running a 19:40.69, while
Ava Baldauf ran a 19:55.78 to take 26th.
Julianne Dennison improved her time by more than 20 seconds over last week's, with a 21:13.21. Freshmen
Kristen Bouington (23:07.71) and
Avery Miller (23:15.39) finished back-to-back.
Roe Guzzetta (24:42.39) and freshman
Tatum Salter (25:35.50) rounded out the Argonauts lineup.
Similar to last week, the difference between UWF's first and fifth finisher was less than 40 seconds.
The team will have a week off before hosting the Argonaut Invitational on September 23. The women's race will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, with donuts available for the first 100 fans in attendance.
