Men's Soccer Grabs 4-0 Win Over PCC

Keegan Ancelin finished the night with two goals

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The West Florida Men's Soccer Team defeated Pensacola Christian on Tuesday evening with a 4-0 shutout.
UWF got the ball rolling with a shot in the second minute by Kainan Dos Santos, which was blocked by an Eagles defender. Not even a minute later, another shot was made by midfielder Caue Novaes that just missed inside the top post.

The backend of the Argo defense only allowed one shot for the Eagles. Captain Lucas Barankiewicz sat at the helm of the West Florida defense keeping the Eagles at bay. UWF Goalkeeper Nicolas Meckien made his collegiate debut with one save from Samuel Barragan in the 6th minute.

The Argos found the net in the 14th minute as forward Dos Santos sent a rocket inside the left post to get UWF on the board first. The assist was handed to Fynn Geigle as he delivered the ball to Dos Santos outside the box.

Before heading into halftime, UWF was able to convert again as forward Keegan Ancelin dribbled the ball in the top of the box and shot from 15 yards out. The goal came in the 39th minute and was Ancelin's first of the season.

The second half began, and the Argos remained as energetic as they were in the first. The offensive momentum for the Argos increased when Kendrick Hernandez sent the ball into the bottom corner of the right post in the 52nd minute to increase the score to 3-0.

Ancelin dribbled into the box and found the net again in the 64th minute to make for his second goal of the season.

PCC goalkeeper Adam Lund finished the day with seven saves and strongly contributed to the Eagles defense to limit the Argos offensive attacks.
West Florida out shot Pensacola Christian by a margin of 25-1, with the Argos having eleven shots on goal. The team secured a comfortable win before heading into GSC play over the weekend.

Up Next: Dos Santos, Ancelin, and the rest of the Argonauts will begin conference play with matches against Alabama Huntsville on Friday evening and West Alabama on Sunday afternoon.
