Argos Return to Gulf Breeze to Host Christian Brothers and Union

UWF Will Play at Shoreline Park

PENSACOLA, Fla -  The UWF Men's Soccer team is returning to Gulf Breeze, Florida to host two GSC matchups this weekend. On Friday, October 13th, UWF will face Christian Brothers, and Union on Sunday, October 15th. The Argos are looking to extend their wins on the season as the team reaches the middle of their season. 


About UWF

The Argos are coming into this weekend play with a record of 5-1-3 on their season. After coming off a weekend with one win and one draw, the team is looking to put some goals in the back of the net. Senior Jack Patching continues to lead the Argos. Patching currently holds five goals on the year, tallies four assists, with a total of 14 points. Josiah Fontenot, the fifth year who brings energy onto the pitch as a crucial sub, is also leading for the Argos. Fontenot carries five goals and two assists for a total of 12 points. 

During the last match between UWF and CBU, after 90 minutes of play, the game ended in a draw. Both goals came in the second half as Caue Novaes opened the scoring in the 62nd minute. Christian Brothers answered just ten minutes later as Marco Osti scored for CBU. The Argos are 17-3-4 against the Buccaneers and are looking to continue in the wins column. 

About Christian Brothers

The Buccaneers are coming to UWF with a current record of 4-2-4 on their season. CBU is coming off of a weekend of a tie against Alabama Huntsville, and a 1-0 loss to West Alabama. The Buccaneers are having a steady season however. CBU is currently outshooting their opponents 13-9 with a 1.30 goals per game versus their opponents 0.90.

Ruben Neubauer leads the team with five points with three goals and one assist for his team. Manny Morales holds five points with two goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Max Klink has registered 720 minutes on the season with a total of 14 saves. Head Coach Edna Crehan enters his fourth season leading the Buccaneers.

About Union

Union is heading into this weekend's play with a record of 3-5-2 on their season. Union also faced West Alabama last weekend where they fell 0-4, and earned the tie against Alabama Huntsville with a draw of 2-2. During the last matchup between Union and West Florida, the Argos came away with the win. The Argos defeated the Bulldogs 2-1 with goals by Jack Patching and Kainan Dos Santos. The Argos are 7-3-2 in their time against the Bulldogs and are looking to continue their feats against the Bulldogs.

Leading the Bulldogs in scoring is Stan De Vries. De Vries leads the team with nine points as he has tallied four goals and one assists. Kenny Nitzsche is right behind him with two goals and two assists for a total of six points. Goalkeeper Botond Nemeth has registered 720 minutes on the year and has recorded 49 saves so far this season.
