Stage is Set at Shoreline Field for Contests Against CBU and Union

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team nears the end of regular season with home conference contest against Christian Brothers Friday, Oct. 13 at 11:00 a.m. The Argos will finish with a Sunday matchup on Oct. 15 at 12:30 p.m. over Union.
 
A Look Back to Last Weekend
UWF gained a pair of shutouts on the road at Montevallo and Auburn Montgomery. The two wins have put the Argos at 9-1-1 overall, 6-1 conference.
 
Emma Beltz and Isabela Labovic scored a goal each in a 2-0 victory over Montevallo. Kendall Blackmon hit the lone goal against Auburn Montgomery. The defender's game-winning goal uplifted the team to continue to sit at No. 2 in the conference standings.
 
Argos in the Polls
Despite an undefeated weekend, the United Soccer Coaches polls have proven competitive. The Argos dropped a spot in the rankings to No. 22 but remain in the top-25 for the sixth consecutive week.
 
About Christian Brother Buccaneers
CBU is 12 in the conference standings of 14 teams. The Bucs have an overall record of 4-5-3 and are 2-4-1 in the GSC.
 
The two conference wins were one-goal differential finals against current top-5 GSC teams. The Bucs got a 1-0 win over Mississippi College, in late September, for their first conference win. Their second conference win happened last weekend in a 2-1 victory over West Alabama.
 
The majority of Union's game fall just short as they have a slight 14-11 disadvantage in goals scored over their opponents. The team averages .454 shots on goal percentage.
 
The Bucs are led by defender Flavia Iorio who has totaled five goals on the season so far.
 
Midfielder Alice Legnedahl follows with a pair of goals and four Bucs have tallied one goal each on the season. The freshman out of Sweden has made six starts.
 
Upperclassmen Luisa Velten and Cammie Jernigan have made 12 consecutive starts and lead the team with minutes. They combine for five points on seven shots each.
 
Chloe Hillyer has protected the goal for the Bucs. She has made 44 saves to have a .786 save percentage. Hillyer has a record of 4-4-2 in the net.
 
Argo vs. Buc History
UWF is 21-10 in series history between CBU. The Argos are on a two-game win streak with the last meeting in 2022 ending in a 7-0 victory.
 
The Argos are 11-2 at home. The latest home loss was in 2014.
 
UWF averages 2.61 goals per game over CBU.
 
About Union Bulldogs
Union sits in the middle of the rankings at 5-5-1 overall and 4-3 GSC.
 
The Bulldogs went 2-0 last weekend against West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville. The latest game versus AUH was a 1-0 win scored by Sophie Walsh. The junior is tied for second most goals on the team with two Bulldog teammates.
 
With four goals scored, Madison Woolridge sits above. The Florida native has an impressive .813 shot on goal percentage.
 
Preventing goals for Union is Rylee Iorio. The graduate student had made 10 appearances and 10 starts for a total of 855 minutes. Iorio records 63 saves while allowing 12 goals for a .840 save percentage.
 
Argo vs. Union History
The battle between the Argonauts and Bulldogs hasn't occurred long and travels back to 2012. In just 10 meetings, UWF has come out victorious nine times. The only loss came in 2015 by a one-goal difference.
 
Mya Swinton hit the game-winner at Union's home turf last season to give the team a 1-0 win. The goal came unassisted in the 61st minute.
