PENSACOLA, Fla. --- No. 21 UWF women's soccer travels to West Georgia and Valdosta State for final pair of away conference games of the regular season. The Argos will battle with UWG Friday, Oct. 20 at 4:00 p.m. CT and finish on Sunday, Oct. 22 with Valdosta State. Kick-off is set for Noon CT against the Blazers.

UWF stands at No. 2 in the GSC and No. 21 in the nation with an 11-1-1, 8-1 GSC record.

The team has clinched a Gulf South Conference Tournament berth that will begin November 4
th. West Florida is joined by Lee who has also clinched a spot in the conference tournament.

The Argos got a pair of 2-0 wins over Christian Brothers and Union last weekend. It was the team's seventh and eighth shutout of the season. Starting goalkeeper
Maciah Lipsey totals for six of the shutouts.

Ahnalie Layman opened the weekend with her first season goal against CBU. The team held on to a close 1-0 lead.
Emilie Dueck Doerkesen doubled the lead with a late second half goal to ensure the win. This was her second goal of the season.

Dueck also went on to rack up a point in the following match against Union after opening the game with an assist. She assisted
Emma Beltz's sixth goal of the season. This was Dueck's fourth assist to Beltz.

Julia Comin solidified a 2-0 gap with a diving header from
Isabela Labovic. This was the midfielders third goal of the season.

Argos in the GSC
Despite not earning points in the last three matches,
Mya Swinton remains top in the GSC. She has the fourth most goals (7) and assists (5) in the conference. This puts her tied for second most points (19) in the Gulf South.

Beltz points of 13 joins Swinton in the conference's top-10.

About West Georgia Wolves
The Wolves are currently sixth in the GSC standings. They have an overall record of 5-5-3 and 5-4-1 conference record.

Half of their conference games have resulted in one-goal differentials.

Last week, the Wolves went 1-1. They grabbed a 5-0 win over Shorter and took a 1-0 loss to Lee.

West Georgia are outscoring their opponents 19-14. The team has reached 80 of 167 shots on goal for a .479 shot on goal percentage. Goals have shown themselves to be a team effort as 13 of the 19 goals have been assisted.

Katherine Hagans leads the Wolves in her freshman year with six goals and one assist. Hagans scored a two-goal game against Union (Sept. 29) for a season-high. She reaches a .632 shot on goal percentage. Attackers Kenna Kay and Judith Leon-Juarez follow with three goals apiece with Kay adding a pair of assists to her collection.

Haley Brinkman leads the goalkeeping squad. The redshirt senior has recorded 990 minutes in 12 starts. During that time, Brinkman has recorded four wins. She has made 47 saves while allowing 11 goals for a .810 save percentage.

Argo vs. Wolves History
The Argos and West Georgia saw each other twice in the 2022 season. The first visit resulted in a 2-1 conference score that was in the favor of the Argos. West Georgia took a lead in the 11
th minute, but UWF put two goals in before the first half concluded.

The second matchup was the GSC Tournament Quarterfinals that finished in a similar 2-1 result for the Argos. A second half penalty kick was the successor for UWF but ended the Wolves season.

Within those two games, UWF out shot the Wolves, 40-8.

About Valdosta State Blazers
Valdosta State is a top-5 GSC team and is looking to clinch a spot in the conference tournament. They are currently at No. 4 with a 7-4-3 overall, 5-4-1 GSC record. If they remain in the top four, they will host a quarterfinal matchup.

The most recent losses came from Mississippi College (Oct. 8) and Lee (Oct. 13). A single VSU goal was scored in the two games combined by Ana Moleka. It was her seventh goal of the season. The senior's seven goals in the most on the team. Moleka is also a top-2 assister on the team with three. Moleka's 17 points on the season is the fourth most in the conference. (Just behind UWF's Swinton.)

Three goalkeepers have saw minutes on the field for the Blazers but the Florida native, Claire Timberlake, leads the group. In eight games played and seven starts, Timberlake has recorded 24 saves of the team's 42 saves.

Argo vs. Blazer History
The Argos are on a three-game winning streak over VSU. A tie occurred in 2021 and 2017 but the last loss for UWF was back in 2014.

The Argos are 11-1-4 in all meetings with VSU.

In 2022, the Argos took a 1-0 victory. The goal was scored early but managed to hold the Blazers scoreless for the remainder of the match. The unstoppable back line of Layman,
Bailey Erwig and
Destiny Hird played all 90 minutes against Valdosta State.
