Labovic’s Game-Winning Header Keeps #16 UWF Victorious

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team stays alive after a 1-0 win over West Alabama at home. The Argos improved to 14-1-1 overall and 11-1 in conference.

UWF sits at the top of the Gulf South Conference standings. The No. 1 conference team has clinched a home game for the GSC Tournament quarterfinals.

Isabela Labovic kept the streak alive for UWF off a first-half, game-winning goal. The Argos were up for a corner kick. Ahnalie Layman hit a perfect ball in the box that Labovic connected a head with.

Layman is tied for the second most assists in the GSC at seven.

UWF outshot the Tigers (5-9-2, 5-6-1 GSC) 8-2 in the first half.

It was an aggressive 90 minutes of play as 29 fouls were called and four yellow cards were given out.
West Alabama's closest opportunity came in the second half. With five minutes remaining, the Tigers lobbed a ball into the box that bounced over the goalkeeper's head. With the goal now an open target, Labovic took place of the goalkeeper and blocked a shot with her body that prevented a tie game.

The Argos extend their consecutive shutouts to seven.
