DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team closes the season after a 3-1 loss to Nova Southeastern at a neutral site. UWF fell short in the opening round of the championships.

UWF finished the season with a 15-3-1 overall record. The team advanced to a conference-most, 18 NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Argos got on the board first in the 58
th minute. The team set up for a free kick in their attacking half after drawing a foul.
Ahnalie Layman set up for the kick and fired the ball in the box. The ball was placed directly to
Manami Okada who got a head on it for a goal. Layman finished with a team-high, eight assists. Okada increased her total goals to six.Â

UWF held on to the lead for 21 minutes before the Sharks tied it one-all in.

The Sharks then managed to find two additional goals in the following four minutes.

The Argos hit two shots in the remaining seven minutes but neither could fall through.

UWF took 14 shots compared to Nova Southeastern's 14.

Five shots hit on target and
Mya Swinton accounted for two of the shots on goal. Three starters racked up one shot on frame each.

Maciah Lipsey tied her season-high, five saves. Lipsey finishes out the season with an impressive 38 saves for 0.57 goals allowed average.
