Â

* UWF ranks second in the GSC with 45.3 rebounds per game. The Argos have gotten at least a plus-8 rebound margin in all four games.
* The Argos are first in the league and 24th in the country with 4.8 blocks per game.
Â
KANE, BOSTICK, TRUSHEL MAKING IMMEDIATE IMPACT AS 4-YEAR TRANSFERS
* UWF brought in seven transfers during the summer, but
Brooke Kane,
Tyashia Bostick and
Delaney Trushel have made the largest impact through four games.
* Kane spent four seasons at New Hampshire where she totaled 643 points and 392 rebounds in 95 games. Through four games this year she leads the team with 16.4 points per game on 48 pct. shooting, including 8-of-14 from outside for 57 pct. She also has five steals and four blocked shots. She ranks third in the GSC in both FG pct. and 3-point FG pct.
* Bostick made the shortest move of the newcomers after a standout 4-year career at Spring Hill, where she collected 1000 points, 353 rebounds, 117 3-pointers in 80 games. She also was a 81 pct. FT shooter for her career. This season she is second on the team with 12.3 points and leads the team with nine 3-pointers.
* Trushel was a 3-year starter at USC Aiken where she averaged 8.3 ppg in 62 contests to go along with 40 pct. 3-point shooting each season with 82 total makes. This year she is third on the team with 8.3 ppg and 7-of-16 triples for 44 pct.
Â
TAYLOR PICKING UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF AS GSC'S TOP FLOOR GENERAL
* A year ago
Moriah Taylor led the GSC with a 2.43 assist-to-turnover ratio. Through four games in 2023-24, the 5th-year player from Hartselle, Alabama has picked up where she left off with a 4.3 ratio on 13 assists and just three turnovers in 93 minutes.
Â
IT'S A BLOCK PARTY AND EVERYONE'S INVITED
* UWF has swatted 19 opponent field goals through four games for 4.8 blocks per game. That leads the GSC and ranks 24th in Division II.
* The starting frontcourt of
Brooke Kane and
Tori Hunter have four blocks each to lead the team, although Hunter hasn't had a block in the last two contests.
* Eight different Argos have at least one block this season.
Â
YELTON SITTING ON 249 HEAD COACHING VICTORIES
* Tuesday's win over SHC was number 249 for
Stephanie Lawrence Yelton as a head coach. She is currently 249-206 in her 17th season, which includes 193-122 in her 12th at UWF. She spent five seasons as the head coach at Charleston Southern, going 56-84 from 2001-06.
* Last season she became the winningest coach in program history, passing Shannon Bergen's 183 wins with a triumph at Christian Brothers on Feb. 4, 2023.
* Additionally, she is on the verge of becoming the tenth coach in GSC history to reach 200 victories at a league school.
Â
SHATTERING RECORDS THE LAST TIME OUT
* UWF scored 111 points in the win over SHC on Tuesday, marking the second-highest scoring game in program history. The Argos scored at least 25 points in all four quarters, with a season-high 33 in the fourth. Here are the top scoring games in UWF history:
125Â Â Â Â Â Â Â vs. Stillman 1/27/94
111Â Â Â Â Â Â Â vs. Spring Hill, 11/21/23
111Â Â Â Â Â Â Â vs. Concordia-Selma 2/26/94
109Â Â Â Â Â Â Â vs. Albany State 11/12/16
108Â Â Â Â Â Â Â vs. Columbus State 12/15/97
106Â Â Â Â Â Â Â vs. Central Arkansas 1991
106Â Â Â Â Â Â Â vs. Stillman 12/2/94
Â
* UWF was absolutely locked in from outside, making 20-of-28 3-pointers in the win over Spring Hill on Tuesday. The 20 triples shattered the previous school record of 16 set two years ago against the Badgers. The figure is the most in the country thus far and tied for the fifth-most in GSC history.
* The 3-point field goal percentage of 71.4 is where it gets interesting. That figure isn't close to the top eight in the GSC record book because the minimum for makes is 5, meaning 5-of-5, 9-of-10, 7-of-8 and 6-of-7 dominate the list. Looking at the six games where a team made at least 20, here's what they all shot in their games:
.714 (20-of-28)Â Â Â UWFÂ Â Â Â Â vs. SHC, 2023-24
.618 (21-of-24)   Ark.-Monticello  vs. Rhema College, 2007-08

.457 (21-of-46)   Union   vs. Shorter, 2022-23
n/a (20 made)    North Alabama  vs. Lindsey Wilson, 1998-99
Â
* UWF handed out a school-record 33 assists as well, which is the 11th most in GSC history and the seventh-most in D2 this season.
