* UWF is 5-0 when it makes at least eight 3-pointers and 2-2 when it fails to make more than five.
* UWF has 152 assists on 235 field goals – 64 percent.

UWF AMONG TOP REBOUNDING TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY AGAIN
* In Stephanie Lawrence Yelton's 12 seasons at UWF, the Argos have been the dominant rebounding team in the GSC. They have finished first or second in the league in all 11 previous seasons.
* This year the Argos are first in the GSC and 16th nationally with 44.3 rebounds per game.

ARGOS AGAIN WITH A TOP TIER DEFENSE
* Along with the strong rebounding effort, the UWF defense has been present in just about every game, holding opponents to 59.3 points per contest on a paltry 33.9 shooting percentage. The FG defense ranks first in the GSC and 13th in Division II.
* UWF has held all nine opponents to under 40 percent shooting this season.
* In terms of outside shooting, it doesn't get any better for opponents as they have managed to make just 24.7 percent (1st in GSC/33rd in NCAA) of their shots and with an average of just 5.1 per 40 minutes.

KANE, BOSTICK, TRUSHEL LEADING THE WAY OFFENSIVELY
* UWF brought in eight transfers during the summer, but Brooke Kane, Tyashia Bostick and Delaney Trushel have made the largest impact thus far, combining for 36.6 points per game while shooting 43.1 percent from the floor and 42 percent from outside.
* Kane spent four seasons at New Hampshire where she totaled 643 points and 392 rebounds in 95 games. She leads the Argos with 15.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She also has a team-best 10 steals along with seven blocked shots. She ranks third in the GSC in FG pct. (.479) and would lead in 3-point FG pct. (.471) but she is two made triples shy of the statistical minimum of 2.0 makes per game.
* Bostick made the shortest move of the newcomers after a standout 4-year career at Spring Hill, where she collected 1000 points, 353 rebounds, 117 3-pointers in 80 games. She also was an 81 pct. FT shooter for her career. This season she is second on the team with 11.9 points and is tied for the team-lead with 16 3-pointers. She powered the team to a win over West Georgia on Sunday with a season-high 25 points on five 3-pointers, highlighted by 10 points in the fourth quarter.
* Trushel was a 3-year starter at USC Aiken where she put up 8.3 ppg in 62 contests to go along with 40 pct. 3-point shooting each season with 82 total makes. This year she is third on the team with 9.3 ppg and 15-of-33 triples for 45.5 pct.

NO LETDOWN IN POINT GUARD PLAY WITH TAYLOR & STONE
* A year ago Moriah Taylor led the GSC with a 2.43 assist-to-turnover ratio. Through eight games in 2023-24, the 5th-year player from Hartselle, Alabama has picked up where she left off with a 4.2 ratio on 21 assists and just five turnovers in 185 minutes.
* Transfer Bella Stone has stepped in and has shown that there will not a be a drop off in ball security when either player in handling the rock. Stone has a 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio with 26 dimes and 14 turnovers in 170 minutes.
* Both players have 14 combined steals and two blocked shots apiece as well this season.

IT'S A BLOCK PARTY AND EVERYONE'S INVITED
* UWF has swatted 47 opponent field goals through nine games for 5.2 blocks per game. That is first in the GSC and ranks 14th in Division II.
* Claire Sutherland-Case is third in the GSC and 26th in the country with 17 blocks. Brooke Kane is ninth in the league with seven swats.
* 10 different Argos have at least one block this season.

SCOUTING UNION
* Union comes into the week ranked No. 4 in the country and 9-0 on the season. They are 4-0 in GSC action.
* UU leads the country with 101.5 points per game on 49.5 percent shooting. The Lady Bulldogs are again a strong outside shooting bunch, averaging 11.3 3-pointers per game and have made double-figure triples in eight of nine contests. Four players have made at least 11 on the season, led by Lauren West's 28.
* Six players average 9.6 points or more including three starters. Macey Lee pours in 14.6 points with 48 percent from outside.

SERIES HISTORY WITH UNION
* Union leads the series 16-5 which dates back to Dec. 1, 2012. The Lady Bulldogs have a 9-2 margin in Jackson and have won the last six at David Blackstock Court.
* A year ago, the teams each won at home before Union claimed a 67-59 win in the GSC semifinals in Birmingham.

SCOUTING CHRISTIAN BROTHERS
* CBU is 1-7 entering Friday's game with Valdosta State. The Lady Bucs win was a 61-50 decision over West Georgia at home on Nov. 30.
* Jeremia Montgomery leads the team with 14.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She also paces the squad with 18 assists, 19 steals and nine blocks. She is second in the GSC with an 87.5 FT pct.

SERIES HISTORY WITH CBU
* UWF is 14-7 all-time against CBU, having won seven of the last 10. The Argos are 5-6 in Canale Arena following last year's 83-73 victory, which snapped a 3-game skid in Memphis.

YELTON COLLECTED HEAD COACHING VICTORY NUMBER 250 AT SHORTER
* The win at Shorter last month was number 250 for Stephanie Lawrence Yelton as a head coach. She is currently 253-207 in her 17th season, which includes 197-123 in her 12th at UWF. She spent five seasons as the head coach at Charleston Southern, going 56-84 from 2001-06.
* Last season she became the winningest coach in program history, passing Shannon Bergen's 183 wins with a triumph at Christian Brothers on Feb. 4, 2023.
* Additionally, she is on the verge of becoming the tenth coach in GSC history to reach 200 victories at a league school.

SHATTERING RECORDS AGAINST SHC ON NOV. 21
* UWF scored 111 points in the win over SHC two days before Thanksgiving, marking the second-highest scoring game in program history. The Argos scored at least 25 points in all four quarters, with a season-high 33 in the fourth. Here are the top scoring games in UWF history:
125       vs. Stillman 1/27/94
111       vs. Spring Hill, 11/21/24
111       vs. Concordia-Selma 2/26/94
109       vs. Albany State 11/12/16
108       vs. Columbus State 12/15/97
106       vs. Central Arkansas 1991
106       vs. Stillman 12/2/94

* UWF was absolutely locked in from outside, making 20-of-28 3-pointers in the win over Spring Hill on Tuesday. The 20 triples shattered the previous school record of 16 set two years ago against the Badgers. The figure is the most in the country thus far and tied for the fifth-most in GSC history.
* The 3-point field goal percentage of 71.4 is where it gets interesting. That figure isn't close to the top eight in the GSC record book because the minimum for makes is 5, meaning 5-of-5, 9-of-10, 7-of-8 and 6-of-7 dominate the list. Looking at the six games where a team made at least 20, here's what they all shot in their games:
.714 (20-of-28)   UWF     vs. SHC, 2023-24
.618 (21-of-24)   Ark.-Monticello  vs. Rhema College, 2007-08
.591 (26-of-44)   Union   vs. Stillman, 2015-16
.522 (24-of-46)   Union   vs. Rust, 2015-16
.457 (21-of-46)   Union   vs. Shorter, 2022-23
n/a (20 made)    North Alabama  vs. Lindsey Wilson, 1998-99

* UWF handed out a school-record 33 assists as well, which is the 11th most in GSC history and the seventh-most in D2 this season.
