MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The UWF women's basketball team got a bounce-back performance on Sunday, defeating Christian Brothers, 73-58, at Canale Arena.
UWF (8-3, 5-2 Gulf South) scored 20 of its 40 second-half points from the free throw line, playing through contact en route to the team's third-consecutive victory over CBU.
The Argonauts shot just 35 percent overall but were 30-of-37 at the foul line - both season highs at the stripe.
Brooke Kane finished with a team-high 21 points.
Tyashia Bostick had 13 points and six rebounds, while Veronica Roberts played her best game of the season, collecting season highs of 12 points and seven rebounds.
Moriah Taylor added 11 off the bench with three 3-pointers.
UWF led 33-29 at the half and scored the first six points after the break. CBU battled back and tied it at 41 with three minutes left in the period. The Argos answered with six-consecutive free throws and back-to-back 3-point plays from Kane to take control entering the final quarter with a 55-45 lead.
Bostick converted her own 3-point play in the opening minute of the fourth and the lead never got under 12 points the rest of the game.
CBU (1-9, 1-5) made 33 percent of its field goals and was led by Jeremia Montgomery's 28 points and 10 boards.
UWF will be off for two weeks before returning to play on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Valdosta State (9-2, 6-1). Tip-off at the VSU Complex in Valdosta, Georgia is at 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
