PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF Men's Basketball Team wraps up their three-game homestand with a match-up against 11
thranked West Georgia, on Sunday at 4 PM inside the UWF Field House.

UWF (3-5, 1-3 in the Gulf South Conference) is coming off a thrilling 93-84 victory in their last game against Delta State.  Six players, including all five starters, recorded double-figures in scoring for the Argonauts.
Xavier Washington once again led the team with 14 points and nine rebounds while point guard, Trey White, nearly had a double-double of his own with 12 points and nine assists.

Channick Nkoma added 12 points and eight rebounds as West Florida shot a season-high 54 percent from the field.  Overall, the Argonauts are 10
th in the league in scoring at 73.1 points per contest, while defensively they rank in the top half of the GSC in both opponent points per game (73.5) and opponent field goal percentage (43.2).  UWF takes advantage at the charity stripe as they lead the GSC and rank inside the top 20 of Division II in both free throws made (143) and attempts (203).

West Florida also takes care of the ball with a .88 turnover margin, fifth best in the GSC.

White Handing Out Early Christmas Gifts: Sterling White III, a guard from Virginia Beach, Virginia, has been handing out plenty of assists lately, with 15 combined in his last two contests.  With his season-high nine assists in the win over Delta State, White has boosted his season total to 29, the fifth most in the GSC.  Additionally, Sterling has a 29 to three, assist to turnover ratio, which equates to a 9.7 average.  That mark is the best in Division II and trails only Kaleb Cook of Division III, Oswego State, who owns a mark of 13, for the best margin in all of college basketball.

Washington's Big Weekend:Â Forward,
Xavier Washington, recorded his first double-double of the season for UWF with a 27-point, 15 rebound performance in the overtime loss against Mississippi College against before a 14-point, nine rebound outing in the game against Delta State.  Xavier, a native of Palmetto, Florida, made a season-high 7 field goals against the Choctaws while also knocking down 12 free throws, on 15 attempts.  Washington then added 10 made free throws in the contest against the Statesmen, adding to his season total of 59 on 83 attempts.  Both figures lead the conference and rank fourth in Division II.

Scouting West Georgia:Â UWG (8-0, 4-0 in the GSC) comes into the match-up off a 97-74 victory on Thursday night against rival, Valdosta State. Led by Head Coach, Dave Moore, the Wolves are ranked 11
th nationally in the latest NABC Division II Poll.  The Wolves are fifth in the league in scoring per contest, (82), third in opponents per game (65), third in team field goal percentage (48 percent) and second in opponent field goal percentage (38 percent).

Zawdie Jackson leads UWG with 21.4 points and five assists per game, with those marks putting him at second and third in those respective categories in the GSC.  Camron Donatlan, who recorded 36 points in the victory over VSU on Thursday night, is ninth in the league in scoring at 17.6 points per contest.  Three Wolves, Jackson, Donatlan and Marlon Smith, each have at least 10 steals on the season.

Series History: All-time, the Argos are 19-22 against the Wolves, which includes a 13-5 mark at the UWF Field House.  West Florida won a series-high, five straight games, from January 14, 2017, to January 19, 2019.  In the last meeting, UWF knocked off the Wolves at home, 79-75, behind a combined 46 points from former Argonauts,
Daniel Sofield and
Wendell Matthews.
