PENSACOLA, Fla. – Haylee Luttrell made her first four 3-point attempts in the first half to help UWF build a large lead on its way to a 71-57 win over West Georgia in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Gulf South Conference Championship at the UWF Field House on Tuesday.
Third-seeded UWF (22-6) advances to the semifinals where it will meet second-seeded and No. 13/17 Union (24-3) on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. at the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
UWF improved to 13-17 all-time in GSC tourney play and snapped a 4-game losing streak. This marks the ninth appearance in the semfinals for the program.
Luttrell made three of her game-high five triples in the first quarter as the Argonauts built a 19-9 lead eight minutes into the contest. The lead remained in double digits the rest of the game as UWF led 43-23 at the half and by as many as 26 in the third.

Jaclyn Jarnot had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while
Jennifer Andrew came off the bench to score 13 on 5-of-7 shooting, including nine in the second half.
The Argos shot just 39 percent overall but outrebounded the Wolves 48-38. They also limited UWG to 33 percent. GSC Freshman of the Year Aliyah Washington and Stephanie Torres each had 16 points to lead UWG (13-16).
Top-seeded Lee and fourth-seeded Valdosta State both advanced in the other side of the bracket and will play at Noon on Saturday.
