PENSACOLA, Fla.- The West Florida women's tennis team put up a fight against No. 2 nationally ranked Nova Southeastern, but came up short 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
Guadalupe Martinez and
Luiza Daud grabbed wins in the bottom half of the lineup in singles from the No. 4Â and No. 6 positions. The Sharks improve to 6-1 with the Argos falling to 4-3.

In doubles, the Argos were victorious from the No. 1 position, but fell from the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to give NSU the lone doubles point.
Guadalupe Martinez and
Nathalia Mossambani teamed up as the No. 3 pair, but dropped their match 6-2 to the Sharks.
Sara Yigin and Daud finished next with a 6-4 loss to Karolina Snita and Julie Razafindranaly.
Aline Midori Da Silva and
Carlota Verdu won as the No. 1 pair 6-2, but not before the Sharks won the doubles point.

West Florida continued to battle in singles from throughout the lineup, but it was not enough to upend the Sharks. Midori Da Silva fell in her match from the No. 3 position 6-0, 6-3. GSC Freshman of the Week, Verdu, came up short from the No. 2 position 6-1, 6-2 to No. 39 Nathalie Espinal. Saguchi fell to No. 8 ranked Razafindranaly from the No. 1 position in two sets 6-1, 6-3.

Daud earned a singles victory, defeating Kayla Solagnier 6-1, 6-1 from the No. 6 position.
Jenna Svatos gave a valient effort from the No. 5 position, but dropped the contest in three sets 6-7, 6-3, 0-1. Martinez's match went into a tiebreaker with Martinez winning the first set 6-4, dropping the second set 6-2 and ultimately falling in the third set 1-0 (7) as the No. 4.

The Argonauts prepare to face No. 6 ranked Lynn on Friday, March 3 in Valdosta, Ga. The contest is slated for 11:00 a.m. (ET).
