HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of West Florida softball team fell in the series opener at Alabama Huntsville on Friday afternoon, 10-2. The Argonauts are now 8-8 on the year at 2-4 in the Gulf South Conference.
 
West Florida got on the board quickly against UAH starter Megan Shurtz, one of the top arms in the GSC over the last two seasons.
 
Erin Moon started the scoring in the first inning, with an RBI double that brought in Hannah Harper after a leadoff single.
 
The Chargers responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, before a Laurynn Boggs RBI single scored Kayla Mayo to cut into the lead.
 
The UWF pitching staff struggled to contain the Chargers offense – one of the best in the league. In all, UAH scored 10 runs on 10 hits.
 
Boggs picked up her third multi-hit game of the year, Harper stretched her hitting streak to nine games, Mayo extended hers to six games, and Moon's is now at five games.
 
The Argos wrap the series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1 pm at Charger Park in Huntsville.
