PENSACOLA, Fla.- No. 18 West Florida men's tennis bested No. 17 North Georgia on Tuesday afternoon 6-1 the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
The Argos (7-2, 4-1 GSC) handed the Nighthawks (5-3) their third loss of the season and snapped their two-match win streak.
How It Happened
UWF dominated on the courts in doubles with wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 pair.
Bernardo Costa and
Sebastian Rondon teamed up on court 2 and won 6-2.
Albin Ekenros and
Adam Svensson were victorious on court 3 with a 7-5 win over Eliseo Alcalde and Giulio Sassi.
No. 3
Tomas Descarrega and
Facundo Bermejo lost their match in a 7-5 decision from the No. 1 position. The Argos won the lone doubles point heading into singles play on the day.
In singles, the Argos continued their momentum winning from five singles matches. From the top of the lineup, Costa won his match in two sets 6-4, 6-4 from the No. 3 position. No. 38 Bermejo dominated his match with a win 7-5, 6-2 as No. 2. The Cordoba, Argentina native improves to 5-1 from the No. 2 position.
No. 41 Descarrega could not upend No. 6 Joaquin Benoit from the No. 1 position as he fell 6-0, 6-2.
The bottom half of the lineup saw victories from all three positions.
Rookie Rondon grabbed the win from the No. 6 position 7-5, 6-1 to improve to 6-1 on the season. No. 57
Mateo Martinez won in a close match 7-6, 6-3 against Robin Eldin from the No. 5 position.
Santiago Kearney came up victorious from the No. 4 position in a three-set match 6-1, 4-6, 1-0.
