PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 13 West Florida men's tennis swept Montevallo 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
With the win today, the Argos improve to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in GSC play. The Falcons fall to 2-6 record and 2-1 conference record.
How It Happened
It was all Argos from the beginning with UWF sweeping all three positions in doubles.
In dominating fashion,
Tomas Descarrega and
Facundo Bermejo won their match as a pair 6-1 as No. 1. The dynamic duo improves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Bernardo Costa and
Sebastian Rondon dominated their match 6-1 from the No. 2 position. Enzo Silveira and
Santiago Kearney wrapped up doubles with a 6-1 over their opponents.
The Argos continued their momentum heading into singles with all singles matches were completed in two sets.
From the top of the lineup, Costa won his match 6-3, 6-3 as No. 3 singles. Bermejo grabbed the win on court 2 6-1, 6-1 against Julius Ziebart. Descarrega grabbed the win from the No. 1 position 6-0, 6-1 and improves to 6-3 in singles.
In the bottom half of the lineup,
Joaquin Estevez came up with the victory as No. 6 for the Argos.
Mateo Martinez was victorious 6-0, 6-2 against Dylan Kamel.
Sebastian Rondon closed out the win for the Argos with a 6-3, 6-0 victory from the No. 4 position. The freshman improves to 7-1 on the season.Â
Up Next: The Argos will continue their home stretch on Monday, March 20 against Southern Arkansas. The first set will begin at 1 p.m.
