PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 13 West Florida men's tennis cruises past Southern Arkansas 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
After this win, the Argos improve to 9-2 on the season and increase their win streak to three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was all Argos from the start as UWF won the lone doubles point over the Muleriders.
No. 2
Facundo Bermejo and
Tomas Descarrega dominated their match with a 7-5 win over Sander Jans and Lluc Pasqual from the No. 1 position.
Bernardo Costa and
Sebastian Rondon won an intense match 6-4 as the No. 2 pair.
Santiago Kearney and
Enzo Bomfim Silveira battled on court 3 but dropped their match 6-0.
The Argos continued to dominate on their home courts with wins from five singles positions.
From the top of the lineup, Kearney fought in a tight match against Ole Valkyser in No. 3 singles. The freshman fell in the first set 7-5, won the second 6-0, and claimed the victory in the tiebreaker 7-6.
Bermejo took down nationally ranked No. 11 Sander Jans 7-6, 6-2 as No. 1 for the Argos. Costa came up just short from the No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1.
Joaquin Estevez dominated in two sets 7-5, 6-4 from the No. 6 position.
Mateo Martinez took down Matthew Tennant from court 5 6-3, 6-1. Rondon was victorious from the No. 4 position 6-2, 6-1. The Florida native improves to 8-1 on the year.
Up Next: The Argos swing back into action at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on Wednesday, March 22 against Columbus State. The first set will begin at 1 p.m.
