Women's Tennis Dominates Montevallo at Home

The Argos won 6-1 against the Falcons

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The West Florida women's tennis team won their fourth Gulf South Conference match of the season against Montevallo 6-1 on Saturday.

With the win, the Argos improve to 6-7 on the season and 4-2 in conference play. The Falcons drop to 4-5 overall and 3-4 record in the conference.

How It Happened
UWF dominated doubles, winning two of the three doubles matches. Luiza Daud and Nathalia Mossambani teamed up on court 2 as they won 6-1. Mayumi Saguchi and Guadalupe Martinez secured the second win for the Argos 6-1 from the No. 3 position.

The freshmen duo, Aline Midori Da Silva and Carlota Verdu, fell in their match 6-4 to Cyba Ozzor and Mireira Turro as the No. 1 pair.

The Argos saw victories from throughout the lineup in singles.

From the top of the lineup, Midori Da Silva was victorious in two sets 6-3, 6-1 as No. 3. She is 7-4 and undefeated 4-0 in conference play on the season.
Saguchi dominated her match 6-4, 6-4 from the No. 1 position. The senior improves to 5-8 overall and 3-3 against GSC opponents.

Verdu won her match after three sets as she won the first 7-6, fell in the second 6-3, and claimed the victory in the third set 7-6.

From the bottom half of the lineup, Guadalupe Martinez grabbed the win in two sets 6-2, 6-1 as No. 4. Jenna Svatos came up with the win from the No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-2.

Daud was unable to win her match as she fell in two close sets 7-6, 7-6 from the No. 5 position.

Up Next: The Argos will face Southern Arkansas on Monday, March 20 at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
