PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of West Florida softball team fell in the series finale against Mississippi College on Sunday. With the loss, UWF is now 8-13 and 2-9 in the Gulf South Conference.
Mississippi College got ahead in the first with a bases-loaded single to left field, but third baseman
Kayla Mayo made a heads-up throw to
Chelsea Dumas covering second base to catch an MC runner and end the inning.
The Lady Choctaws then put up a 10-spot in the second inning to take an 11-0 lead. MC added three more runs in the third.
Hannah Harper picked up a single in the third inning, stretching her on-base streak to 14 games.
Kelsey Hodges led UWF offensively over the weekend, hitting .556 (5-for-9). She led the team with three RBIs and five hits. Harper had four hits, going 4-for-11.
UWF continues GSC play with a series at Shorter on March 25-26 in Rome, Georgia. The Argonauts will follow that series with a nonconference doubleheader at Spring Hill on March 29.
