Women's Tennis Prepares for Early Week Matchups

The Argos will host three matches this week

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The West Florida women's tennis team prepares for a busy week ahead with two home matches early in the week at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

The Argos will face No. 50 Southern Arkansas on Monday, March 20 at 1 p.m. Wednesday's contest will feature a match against No. 47 Columbus State at 2 p.m.

ABOUT UWF
*After Saturday's 6-1 win over Montevallo, the Argos are on a two-match win streak. UWF improves to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
*Luiza Daud leads the Argos with eight singles wins. The São José dos Campos, Brazil native holds an 8-2 singles record on the season as No. 5 and No. 6.
*In doubles, Aline Midori Da Silva and Carlota Verdu are 5-3 as the No. 1 pair for the Argos. Verdu is 6-6 in singles action while Midori Da Silva is 7-4.
*West Florida holds a 2-3 record at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex on the year.

SCOUTING THE MULERIDERS
*Southern Arkansas brings a 5-8 record into Monday's contest as the Muleriders are ranked No. 50 in the most recent ITA National Ranking.
*Lena Milosevic captured the clinching singles win from the No. 2 position for the Muleriders to defeat No. 33 Northeastern State 4-3.
*Greg Owens is in his fourth year at the helm of the Southern Arkansas men's and women's tennis programs.

UWF VS. SAU HISTORY
*Monday's contest will be the first meeting between these two squads.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
*Columbus State is ranked No. 47 in the country after holding a 4-1 overall record. The Lady Cougars are currently riding a four-match win streak as they enter into Wednesday's contest.
*Nikoline Gullacksen is the only Lady Cougar who is undefeated 5-0 in singles. The freshman holds a 3-0 record as No. 4 and 2-0 record as No. 5. Gullacksen and her teammate Luciana Galves lead the charge in doubles with 3-1 doubles record from the No. 3 position. The pair is currently on a three-match win streak.
*Evan Issacs is in his 22nd season as head coach of the Cougar's men's and women's tennis programs. The Lady Cougars have made 20 NCAA appearances with Issacs at the helm.

UWF VS. CSU HISTORY
*This will mark the 12th matchup between these two programs. The Lady Cougars hold a 8-3 series record over the Argos. Columbus State's last win came on March 27, 2022 with the Cougars winning the match 6-1.

Up Next: Later this week, the West Florida tennis teams will honor their seniors on Saturday, March 26 with a match against Xavier (La.). The senior festivities will begin before the match at 10 a.m.
