PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 35 West Florida women's tennis team soared past NAIA team Xavier (La.) 6-1 on Saturday for senior day. UWF improves to 9-7 on the season as they currently have a five-match win streak. The Golden Nuggets fall to 18-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In doubles, Carlota Verdu and Aline Midori Da Silva grabbed the first doubles win 6-1 from the No. 1 position. The pair improves to 7-4 as the No. 1 doubles team for the Argos.

Mayumi Saguchi and Guadalupe Martinez fell in their match 6-3 as the No. 3 pair. Luiza Daud and Nathalia Mossambani grabbed the win in their match as the No. 2 pair to secure the lone doubles point.

In between singles and doubles, head coach Derrick Racine and his coaching staff honored the seniors including seniors Mayumi Saguchi, Raissa Wagner, and Isabela Fioravanti.

From the top of the lineup, Mossambani dominated her match 6-3, 6-4 from the No. 6 singles. Martinez played a tough match and won in three sets 6-4, 6-7, 10-5 from the No. 4 position. Jenna Svatos battled from the No. 5 singles as she won 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 as she improves to 9-6 in singles on the year.

Midori Da Silva won her match in two sets 6-3, 6-4 as No. 3. Saguchi dominated her match from the No. 1 position against Mbali Langa.

Verdu could not come up victorious from the No. 2 position as she fell to Valaine Clarke 7-6, 4-6, 9-11.

Up Next: The Argonauts will face GSC foe West Georgia at home on Friday, March 31. The first set will be at 2:00 p.m.
