The Argos improve to 5-2 in GSC play

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The No. 35 West Florida women's tennis team blanked West Georgia 7-0 on Friday afternoon to improve their record to 10-7, 6-1 GSC.
The Wolves drop to 10-5 and 2-5 in the GSC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was all Argos from the beginning. West Florida won from all three doubles positions to get UWF off on the right foot.

Luiza Daud and Nathalia Mossambani finished first with a sweep 6-0 as the No. 2 pair. Mayumi Saguchi and Guadalupe Martinez dominated their match 6-1 from the No. 3 position. Carlota Verdu and Aline Midori Da Silva won 6-3 as the No. 1 pair to improve to 8-4 in doubles.

After securing the lone doubles point, the Argos continued to dominate in singles.

Verdu was the first to finish in singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win from the No. 1 position. Midori Da Silva won from court 2 6-0, 6-2. The freshman improves to 11-4 on the season.

Martinez grabbed the win from the No. 3 position 6-2, 6-4 against Karla Menendez.

From the bottom half of the lineup, Daud came out victorious in two sets 6-0, 6-3 as No. 4. Jenna Svatos dominated her match 6-3, 6-2 from the No. 5 position.

The most competitive match came from the No. 6 position with Zoe Yasan and Callie Stanfield. Yasan dropped the first set 4-6, won the second 6-3, and came up with the win in the third 12-10.

Friday and Saturday's contest will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.
