Box Score DAVIE, Fla.- The No. 23 West Florida women's tennis team fell to No. 2 Nova Southeastern on Monday morning 4-0 to end their NCAA Tournament run.
The Argos finished the season with a 14-10 record and 25
th NCAA Regional Tournament appearance. The Sharks improve to 22-3 overall and will play the winner between Saint Leo and Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday, April 2.
"Nova Southeastern has a super strong program as they are ranked No. 2 two in the nation, so we knew it was gonna be a test. The girls hung in tight, but came up just a little short today, not due to lack of fight and effort," said head coach

HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles,
Carlota Verdu and
Aline Midori Da Silva fell to No. 1 ranked Natalie Espinal and Fatima Bizhukova 6-3 from the No. 1 position.
Mayumi Saguchi and
Guadalupe Martinez dropped their match as No. 3 6-0 to give the Sharks the lone doubles point.
Luiza Daud and
Nathalia Mossambani were up in their match 5-2 when doubles concluded.
Heading into singles, Nova Southeastern had the 1-0 advantage. The Argos battled, but could not come up with a point to shake the Sharks momentum.
From the top of the lineup, Saguchi fought and ultimately fell in two sets to Julie Razafindranaly 6-1, 6-2 as No. 1. Verdu dropped her match to Natalie Espinal 6-3, 6-1 from court 2. Â
Jenna Svatos fought hard but fell in the second set 6-1, 6-2 from the No. 5 position as the Sharks clinched the match.
Mossambani won the first in her match 7-5 and she was up in the second 1-0 as No. 5 when the match ended. Daud was down in the second set of her match 7-5, 3-1 from the No. 4 singles. Martinez was unable to finish her match from the No. 3 position because of the Sharks clinching the victory. She fell 6-3 in the first set and was down 4-2 in the second.
"We have a very young team and I'm excited about not only the things we did this season but the future of this team. They are a very close-knit group and they fight hard for each other, and all of them work very hard to improve. All the girls are committed to working hard this summer and coming back ready to take it one step further next year."
