UWF Rockets A Pair of Two-Run Homers That Secures Win Over Montevallo

OXFORD, Ala. --- The Argos GSC Championship run continues after taking down the two-seed, Montevallo Falcons, Sunday afternoon. The 9-5 win gave Montevallo their second loss of the tournament and their championship run comes to an end.

UWF sealed the deal with back-to-back homers in the seventh inning that broke the tie score. Jackson Grabsky and Josh Prizina hit two-run homeruns each that drove four runs in to secure the win.

UWF (34-15 overall) will take on Lee University (28-23 overall) tomorrow, May 8 at Choccolocco Park. Time is to be determined. The Flames are currently 2-0 in the tournament – they defeated Montevallo in the opening round of the GSC Tournament and followed with a win over Shorter. The Flames will take on Valdosta State, May 7, before Monday's matchup against the Argos.

For the second time in this tournament, UWF got a pair of runs in the second inning to take the first lead of the game. True Fontenot and Trent Jeffcoat hit an RBI outfield single each to sit at a 2-0 score.

In the following frame, the Falcons scored three runs on four hits to take the lead. Montevallo extended the lead to 4-2 in the fifth frame after hitting a solo homerun.

Mike Scordo extended his hitting streak to six games and tied the game at four all on a double to center.

The Falcons took back the lead in the top of the sixth inning after scoring on a one-out fielder's choice decision. Fontenot quickly ended the Falcons lead in the bottom half of the frame. He rocketed a solo homerun to tie it at five all. This was Fontenot's first homer of the season.

The Argos took a four-run lead thanks to Grabsky and Prizina's homeruns. This was Grabsky's third homerun and Prizina's second of the season.

UWF had an 11-10 edge in hits and left the Falcons with 13 runners left on base throughout the game.

Salvatore Ferro got the win in 3.2 innings pitched. He threw two strikeouts and improves to 5-2 on the season.
