Donor Spotlight: Firestone Family

  • Why do you give to UWF Athletics?

My wife and I both played college athletics and always loved and appreciated the local families that showed up to support us during our time as student-athletes.  Since moving to the Florida Panhandle about 10 years ago, we began going to volleyball games first and then other Argo athletic events, and our young children at the time enjoyed being in a competitive environment and meeting many of the student-athletes.  We thought it was now our time to be a blessing to this great athletic department and have our kids in a fun family environment.

  • Why do you continue to give annually?  ·
As we have been around the different programs at UWF and especially developed great friendships with awesome coaches like Coach Wolter (VB) and Coach Saulnier (FB) just to name a few; we saw they did so much more than coach their sport.  They continue to go above and beyond with their student-athletes to teach them so many life lessons beyond the game, and this gets us excited to continue to support where this sports program is going in the future.  Also, my kids enjoyed participating in some of the summer camps that Coach Wolter and  Coach Burkhamer (MBB) put on, which got them excited to be around some of the athletes they would see down on the court when attending games.

  • · What would you say is the best thing about being a donor to UWF athletics?
Watching the student-athletes become champions on the court/field as well as life.

  • · What makes you passionate about UWF Athletics?
The great thing about Argo Athletics is that so many of the progams have great history of winning championships.  Not many universities have such a wide array of great programs like UWF.  Everyone likes a winner and it is fun to support programs that have a high standard of excellence and expectations.
