JARRETT, MCMULLEN COLLECT GSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS
* Peewee Jarrett and
John McMullen were named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, by the Gulf South Conference on Monday.
* This is Jarrett's third weekly honor from the conference in his two seasons at UWF and McMullen's first.
* Jarrett threw for four touchdowns and completed 21-of-28 (.750) for 329 yards in the Argonauts 35-3 win over McKendree. The senior quarterback from Des Moines, Iowa was 12-of-13 in the second half and completed his final 10 throws, while rushing 11 times for 46 yards.
* Jarrett has two of the top three completion percentage marks in UWF single-game history in the opening two weeks of the season. He leads Division II in completion percentage, connecting on 80 pct. (40-of-50) of his throws and is sixth in passing efficiency at 202.9.
* McMullen led the Argos defense that dominated McKendree on the road, finishing with four tackles and a career-high three sacks. The graduate transfer from Northern Michigan leads the country with five sacks and is second in tackles for loss with seven. UWF held McKendree to a school-record minus-32 rushing yards with seven sacks and 14 TFL.
DEFENSE HOLDS PARTY IN THE BACKFIELD AT MCKENDREE
* The UWF defense was absolutely dominating all game long at McKendree, holding the Bearcats to 135 yards of total offense and a school-record minus-32 yards rushing (which is also fourth all-time in GSC history).
* UWF finished with seven sacks for 60 yards and 14 tackles for loss.
PEEWEE ON TARGET
* In the season opener, senior QB
Peewee Jarrett completed 19-of-22 passes for 230 yards and a TD. He also rushed for a pair of scores. His .864 passing completion established a new school record.
* Last week he was 21-of-28 for 329 yards and four TD. He was 12-of-13 for 188 yards in the second half and completed his final 10 passes.
* He now ranks sixth in the country with a 202.9 passing efficiency, while his .800 completion percentage is first in Division II and fourth in all divisions.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
* A week after making a 724-mile trip to McKendree for the fourth-longest regular-season trip in program history, UWF will make second-shortest shortest trip in history, traveling 194 miles to Bragg Memorial Stadium at Florida A&M.
* Only the 184-mile trip to West Alabama has been shorter in the program's history, but that travel time of 3:16 is a few minutes longer than this week's at 2:46.
ARGOS RANKED FOURTH NATIONALLY; PICKED SECOND IN THE GSC
* Coming off a 12-2 season and a run to the national semifinals in 2022, UWF was slotted seventh in the AFCA Preseason Top 25 and eighth in the D2Football.com Preseason Poll.
* The Argonauts have moved up to No. 4 in the coaches poll and No. 6 in the D2Football.com poll after two weeks of play.
* In the GSC preseason coaches poll, the league's eight coaches voted the Argonauts second behind Delta State. UWF earned two first place votes and 56 poll points, just behind DSU's 61 points and six votes for the top spot.
