Pensacola. FLA - The UWF Men's Soccer team is taking on Shorter and Lee in Gulf Breeze this weekend for some additional GSC play. After opening conference play with two ties, the Argos are looking for some wins from the weekend. After multiple UWF players found a goal in the back of the net against Pensacola Christian, Coach Elliott is excited about their efforts moving forward.
About UWF
Senior Jack Patching is currently leading the Argos with four goals and one assist, giving him nine points. Patching has been able to show up in close situations and be able to put the ball in the back of the net for his team. Fifth year Josiah Fontenot has shown how much of an asset he can be coming off of the bench for the Argos. After scoring three goals against PCC, Fontenot can use this momentum moving into the weekend.
The back line of the Argos continues to show its diverse competitiveness on the season. Fynn Geigle has shown to be an attacking asset up the side of the flank for his team. Senior Austin Marshick, who opened the scoring for the Argos against PCC has also shown his leadership and confidence out on the field.
About Shorter
The Hawks come into this Friday game with a 1-7 record so far on the season. Leading the team in points is Charles Garcia with two goals and three assists. Miguel Souza and Mattia Maiello both have three goals on the year. In their last matchup back in October of 2022, the Argos defeated the Hawks 6-1. The first goal came from forward Keegan Ancelin in just the third minute. Jack Patching scored just two and a half minutes later, and four other goals came later for the Argos.
The match will kick off at noon CT on Friday, September 29th at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

The Flames of Lee University travel to Gulf Breeze with a 4-3-1 (1-2-1 GSC) record in the 2023 season so far. In their last matchup with the Argos, the game ended with a 1-1 draw. Kainan Dos Santos opened up scoring for the Argos in the fourth minute, and Eemeli Makela of Lee tied it up in the 54th minute.
Leading the way for the Flames is Eamon McLauglin. The Old Dominion senior transfer has been named United Soccer Coaches Poll Player of the Week (9/7), and has five goals on the season. McLaughlin opened his 2023 season with a hat trick versus West Georgia.
UWF will face Lee on Sunday, October 1st at 12:30pm CT at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
