Argos Travel For Midweek Game Against Nationally Ranked Wolves

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The UWF Men's Basketball Team will head to Carrollton, Georgia for a match-up with No. 8 West Georgia on Wednesday night.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM CT.
 
West Florida (6-13, 4-11 in the Gulf South Conference) is coming off a tough weekend, falling to both Mississippi College and Delta State, on the road.  Le'Tarion White had a season-high 21 points and nine rebounds in the game against the Choctaws while Ankit Choudhary scored a season-best 18 points in 16 minutes against the Statesmen.
 
UWF, in 12th place in the GSC standings, is currently averaging 71.8 points per game, while they are holding opponents to 76.4 points per contest. The Argonauts are shooting 43 percent from the field and 31 percent from beyond the arc, with an average of nearly seven made three-pointers per game.
 
Xavier Washington leads the Argos in almost every major category with 269 total points, 136 total rebounds, 82 made field goals, 94 made free throws and 138 free throw attempts.  Washington ranks among the top 20 players in the GSC in points per game, rebounds per game, free throws made and attempts.  Tautvydas Kupstas is second on the team in scoring (11.8) and first in made three-pointers (44), while Sterling has.a team-high, 69 total assists.
 
Choudhary's Scoring Impact: In the contest against Mississippi College, Ankit Choudhary had his biggest impact yet as an Argonaut.  The Toronto native poured in an efficient 18 points in 16 minutes, boosted by a season-high four three-pointers.  He also was perfect from the free-throw line in only his second start of the season.
 
White's All-Around Game: Le'Tarion White scored a season-high 21 points in the contest against Mississippi College on Thursday, besting his previous high of 14 points against Union on December 15, 2023.  The forward from Montgomery, Alabama made a season-best eight field goals and added one assist.  He also pulled down nine rebounds, topping his previous high of eight, which came in a win over Delta State in December.
 
Trey Racking Up The Assists: Sterling "Trey" White III has been a high-level point guard for the Argos all season, averaging 3.6 assists per game, which is tied for ninth most in the GSC.  Trey also leads the country in assist-to-turnover ratio, with a mark of 5.3, almost a full point better than the next best player.  Sterling has had at least four assists in his last three games, while his nine on Saturday tied a season-high that also came against Delta State, on December 3rd, 2023.  
 
Scouting West Georgia: The Wolves, (17-2 overall, 13-2 in the GSC), come into Wednesday's match-up on an eight-game winning streak.  UWG, led by coach Dave Moore, is sitting in first place in the GSC after wins over Christian Brothers and Union, last week.
 
West Georgia, the highest scoring team in the league at 83.6 points per game, is led by player of the year candidate, Zawdie Jackson.  Jackson is second in the league in scoring at 22.3 points per game, while his 5.5 assists per contest rank third among players in the GSC.
 
Teammate, Camron Donatlan, is not far behind the forward is averaging 17.1 points to rank fifth in the GSC, while Kolten Griffin is slotted in the top 10 in rebounding in the league with 6.7 per contest.
 
Series History: Dating back to 2001, UWF is 19-23 against the Wolves. West Georgia has won three of the last four meetings which included a win over the Argos back in December.  Xavier Washington had 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead UWF.
