CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWF women's basketball team erased a 17-point deficit in the second half before falling to West Georgia, 71-64, at the UWG Coliseum on Wednesday.
The Argonauts trailed 33-16 at half time but battled back to tie it with 6:04 left in the game. UWG scored eight-straight after the tie game to create the distance it needed for the victory.
Tyashia Bostick led UWF with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting. It was her team-leading fourth game of 20 points or more this season. Delaney Trushel made four 3-pointers as she scored all 14 of her points in the second half.
UWF (12-8, 9-7 Gulf South) shot 35 percent and was held to just 16 points in the first half. The Argos responded by outscoring the Wolves 48-38 in the final two quarters. Brooke Kane was the third Argo in double figures with 10 points as she joined Bostick and Tori Hunter with five rebounds each.
UWG (12-8, 8-8) converted at a 46 percent clip and scored 34 points in the paint. The Wolves also got 23 points off 15 UWF turnovers. Zuriyah Davis scored 23 points and made four triples to lead the home team.
UWF will return to play next Thursday, Feb. 8 when it hosts No. 3/4 Union. Tip-off at the UWF Field House is at 5:30 p.m.
