Argos Take on VSU and AUM at Home, Celebrate Senior Weekend

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team open conference play Friday, Oct. 11 at 5:00 p.m. against Valdosta State and follow with a matchup over AUM Sunday, Oct. 13 at 12:30 p.m. All games will be played at UWF Soccer Complex.
 
Additionally, 13 seniors will be celebrated and recognized prior to Friday's kickoff.
 
The Argos are second in the GSC rankings with a 6-1-2, 4-0-1 GSC record. Montevallo leads the conference (7-2-1, 6-1 GSC).
 
Julieta Limardo leads the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists. The Miami, Fla. native has recorded a pair of two-goal games this season. Forward Emma Beltz follows with three goals and assists for nine points.
 
UWF continues to be the least scored on team in the GSC, thanks to starting goalkeeper, Maciah Lipsey. In nine consecutive starts, Lipsey records 17 saves and a .739 save percentage. Lipsey has allowed a conference-low six goals and has tallied five shutouts.
 
About Valdosta State Blazers
The Blazers are 3-4-1 on the year and 0-2-1 in Gulf South Conference play. VSU went 0-1-1 last week in two matches moved to Georgia Southwestern University from Valdosta in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
 
For the season, the Blazers have scored 11 goals with 78 shots (.139), while 46 shots have been on target (.582) with eight assists and 38 corner kicks.  Defensively, the Blazers have allowed 12 goals on 80 shots (.150) with 44 on target (.550).  VSU is 3 for 4 on penalty kicks this season.  The opposition has ten assists, while Blazer goalkeepers have made 32 saves and the opponents have 25 corner kicks.
 
About Auburn Montgomery Warhawks
AUM is currently 2-5-2 and 12th in the conference rankings. The Warhawks have one point on the season off a 2-2 tie against West Alabama (Oct. 4).
 
The Warhawks have scored 15 goals for a 1.7 goals per game average. They are recording nine shots per game with 50 percent of those on goal.
 
Five different players have scored multiple goals on the year, with Laia Gonzalez leading the way with four scores.
 
Freshman Lucy Thomas scored a pair of goals in this weeks game with one against West Florida and Alabama Huntsville. 
 
Karla Guzman-Ortiz has started every minute in goal and sports a 2.06 goals-against average with 53 saves and a .746 save pct. - sixth in the GSC.
