Argos Ready for Final Regular Season Home Match

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team get ready to take on Montevallo Falcons Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 5:00 p.m. to close out regular season home games. The match will take place at UWF Soccer Complex.
 
UWF and Montevallo (9-3-1, 8-2 GSC) are the lone two teams who have clinch a GSC Championship berth with UWF guaranteed a quarterfinal home game. Montevallo sits at #2 in the GSC standings behind the Argos.
 
The Argos lead the GSC with a total of 31 goals through 13 games for an average of 2.385 goals per game. The Argos also lead the conference in scoring with 84 total points while adding 22 assists to their 31 goals. West Florida is the conference's top defense with eight shutouts on the season and just seven goals.
 
Mya Swinton leads the top line for the Argos with a league-high eight goals while adding four assists for a total of 20 points. Emma Beltz follows closely with five goals and five assists for a total of 15 points. The Argos defense is led by Maciah Lipsey with 1,096 minutes in goal with eight shutouts and just seven goals allowed on 53 shots faced.
 
About Montevallo Falcons
The Falcons total 26 goals for a 2.00 scoring average through 13 games. Montevallo's 205 shots also rank second in the league with UM's 86 corners the second-most in the GSC. Montevallo leads the GSC with a total of 24 assists on the season. Montevallo's defense is also one of league's leaders with just nine goals allowed for an average of 0.69 goals per game. The Falcons' seven shutouts rank second among conference leaders.
 
Sophomore's Isabel Dillehay and Shadia Valenzuela lead the attack for the Falcons with six goals apiece and a pair of assists. In the net, Emily Hounsell leads the GSC with seven shutouts and ranks second with a .692 goals against average through 13 games (behind Lipsey).
 
Argo vs. Falcon History
Since 2000, the Argos are 19-3-2 over the Falcons. The most recent loss occurred in 2019 – the Argos fell in a PK shootout in the GSC semifinals. The last time the Falcons won a match in regulation time was in 2007.
