HUNTSVILLE, Ala - The University of West Florida Argonauts closed their regular season with a win over the Alabama Huntsville Chargers on Sunday evening. The Argos finish the regular season with a 9-1-4 record, heading into the GSC championship with the #1 seed.
How it Happened
The Argos opened scorning in the 12th minute of the match as
Marcus Pereira converted a penalty kick from a foul committed in the box against
Kendrick Hernandez. Pereira tallies his third goal of the season from the spot. The Argos outshot the Chargers 6-2 in the first half and earned three corner kicks.Â
With a 1-0 lead, the Argos sought a breakthrough second goal to solidify the win.
Mar Aegisson and Sy Fontenot would do just that as Aegisson found Fontenot on a left flank through ball, where Fontenot slotted the ball with his left foot to the far right corner to put the Argos up 2-0. With Fontenot's goal, the Argos could hold the lead as the Chargers scored a late goal in the 90th minute off of a PK.Â

The Argos out shot the Chargers 13-4 with five goals on target. 17 Argos saw the pitch as UWF closed the season with a win.
