PENSACOLA, Fla. – UWF head football coach Kaleb Nobles has announced the hiring of Alvance Robinson as the school's newest assistant coach. Robinson, who has eight years of college and professional coaching experience, will serve as the offensive coordinator and work with the Argonaut wide receivers.
"Alvance is a great addition to our staff with great experience coaching on the college and professional football levels," Nobles said. "Alvance knows football, knows UWF and was a big part of our success in winning a National Championship in 2019. We are excited to get Alvance back to UWF."
"It definitely feels like I never left," Robinson said. "I already have a great rapport with coach Nobles from our two years working together before. When he called me to come back it was something I couldn't turn down. This program is in really good hands and I love what he is doing with the program."
In his coaching career, Robinson has seen 10 former players sign NFL, CFL and AFL contracts.
Robinson spent the past season in professional football, coaching the wide receivers with the DC Defenders of the XFL. The Defenders went 9-1 in the regular season and 10-2 overall. They won the XFL North Division and advanced to the XFL Championship Game. He mentored Lucky Jackson who was a First Team All-Pro who averaged 15.9 yards per catch and scored five touchdowns. Jackson and Chris Blair combined to give the Defenders the only pair of receivers in the top five of the league statistics and both were added to 53-man rosters for the Vikings and Falcons.
In 2021-22 Robinson was an assistant coach and pass game coordinator at Division I Gardner Webb. In the spring 2021 FCS season, Devron Harper developed into a First Team All-America punt returner and Izaiah Gaithings was a First Team All-Big South performer. In the fall 2021 campaign, the Bulldogs averaged 395.3 yards of total offense.
Robinson coached some of the best receivers in UWF history from 2019-20, mentoring the likes of

In 2019, the Argonaut receivers combined for 269 receptions, 4,056 yards and 41 touchdowns with only 1 turnover on the year en route to the NCAA Division II National Championship. Lehtio set the NCAA playoff record with 45 catches and National Championship game record for catches with 13. Randolph had 241 receiving yards in the first half which was also a National Championship game record for yards in a half. The 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
From 2017-18, he helped improve the Davenport University Panthers in every statistical passing category. The offense averaged 200 passing yards per game and a 53 percent completion rate in 2018. He coached 2018 All-GLIAC wide receiver/return specialist Nate Couturier and 2018 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention wide receiver Keion Powers. Both were back-to-back offensive team MVP's in 2017 and 2018. He also mentored current Arena Football League (AFL) wide receiver Rashad Still.
Robinson spent the 2015 and 2016 campaigns an assistant coach at Marietta College, also coaching the wideouts. He recruited future (2018) all-America defensive end Kyle Gallagher for the Pioneers.
From 2007-14, he enjoyed a successful career playing in the Arena Football League following a year where he signed as a free agent with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.
Following a year with Saskatchewan, Robinson moved indoors where he played eight seasons in the AFL, making one ArenaBowl appearance in 2013 with the Philadelphia Soul. He also played for the Grand Rapids Rampage, Milwaukee Iron, OKC Yardawgz, Utah Blaze and Portland Thunder. Robinson earned Second Team All-Arena Football League honors in 2007-08. His career stats included 3,247 receiving yards on 249 receptions with 62 touchdowns. He also had 1,794 kick return yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Robinson worked out for several NFL teams including the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals.

He returned to ASU to earn his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in recreational therapy in 2018.
