MONTEVALLO, Ala. - UWF women's tennis (6-2, 4-0 GSC) repeated its efforts from Friday versus West Georgia on Saturday morning with the same result, a 5-2 win over Montevallo (3-5, 1-2 GSC) at the Falcons' Tennis Court Complex.
The doubles pairings at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions for No. 17 UWF saw their matches end in the same split results as Friday, as
Carlota Verdu and
Luiza Daud won 6-4 in the latter while
Jenna Svatos and
Giuliana Sacco fell by the same score in the former. Once again, the Argos clinched doubles at No. 3 thanks to
Aline Midori Da Silva and
Guadalupe Martinez, as they won 6-1.
Singles came down to the wire with multiple tight matchups. Verdu and Svatos fell in two at Nos. 1 and 6, respectively, but the script was flipped as Daud defeated London Breedlove at No. 4 7-5, 6-3 and Midori Da Silva narrowly topped Claire Jaramba 7-6, 6-4. At No. 5, freshman
