#9 Argos Unstoppable Offense Guarantees Series Win Over UAH

PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida baseball team grabbed two home wins in Saturday's conference doubleheader over Alabama Huntsville.
 
No. 9 Argos (11-5, 4-1 GSC) will look to get the sweep tomorrow, March 3 at 1:00 p.m.
 
UWF climbs to No. 2 in the GSC standings behind Delta State. Argos improve to a .800 conference percentage.
 
UWF opened with a 5-3 win. Alabama Huntsville (12-6, 1-4 GSC) got a pair of runs on the board in the opening frame. Jackson Grabsky hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Trent Jeffcoat that cut the Chargers lead in half.
 
Down 2-1, McDowell hit an RBI single in the third and in the fifth frame to give the Argos a 3-2 lead. Grabsky followed with his second RBI of the day with a bunt single to extend the lead to 4-2.
 
McDowell went 4-for-4 at the plate with Grabsky going 2-for-2 and led with two RBI's each.
 
The Chargers put up a run in the top of the eighth but Dean Hotz answered with an RBI outfield single in the bottom half of the inning to keep the two-run gap.
 
Dalton Neuschwander got the win and improved to 3-1. In six innings pitched, Neuschwander threw five strikeouts and allowed two runs on six hits. Major Posey pitched the final two innings and earned his first win of the season.
 
Argos offense remained unstoppable in game two. The team put up 13 hits and held the Chargers to seven. Four Argonauts recorded two hits apiece with Parker Tubb going 2-for-2 at the plate. Tyler Dowdy, who earned his second start of the day, led with three RBI on one hit.
 
UWF put up two runs in the first inning to take a quick 2-1 lead which led through the duration of the game. The Argos continued to pounce and followed with six runs on four hits in the second inning to sit at an 8-1 lead.
 
In the second inning alone, five RBI's occurred. Hotz led the inning with a walk followed with a single by Jeffcoat. McDowell rocketed an outfield single that brought Hotz and Jeffcoat home. A couple batters and still no outs, Dowdy stepped up to the plate. He sailed a three-run homer that put the Argos at a big scoring advantage. This was Dowdy's first home run of the season. Preston Moore finished the scoring with an RBI single.
 
The scoring concluded in the fourth inning for UWF. Hotz and Jeffcoat earned RBI with Jadon Fryman joining in the mix. Three runs were scored with two of them being unearned.
 
Kade Manderscheid got the win on the mound and Chase Stanhope got the save. Manderscheid is now undefeated at 3-0 after a six inning, eight strikeout performance. Stanhope pitched the final inning and record two strikeouts.
 
Argos will conclude the series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
