MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- In a top-four GSC battle, the University of West Florida baseball team grabbed a big win on the road over No. 27 Auburn Montgomery.

AUM (27-17, 17-8 GSC) opened the game with four runs on four hits to take a quick lead. The Argos put up six runs in the second inning to take the lead away from the Warhawks. It began with a hit and two walks to load the bases.
Darrien McDowell stepped to the plate and sailed a grand slam.
Jackson Grabsky brought in the fifth and sixth run on a UWF career first triple.

The Argos continued to pounce with a pair of runs in the third. In back-to-back singles by
Dean Hotz and
Jadon Fryman, they brought the score to 8-4.

Preston Moore kept the scoring going for the third consecutive inning after hitting a solo home run in the fourth frame. Moore has hit a home run in back-to-back games. Another home run kept the scoring going for the fourth straight inning and brought the score to 11-4. McDowell first got on base with a single. Fryman brought McDowell and himself home for a two-run homer. McDowell went 3-for-4 at the plate and led with five RBI.

Jacob Heath grabbed a start on the mound. Before exiting the game after six innings, he kept the Warhawks scoreless through his last five frames. Overall, he allowed three earned runs on nine hits, four of which occurred in the opening frame. Heath recorded a pair of strikeouts in his outing.

After a scoreless inning in the sixth, the runs resumed in the seventh. McDowell hit his second home run of the night. The solo homer brought UWF's lead to 12-4.

UWF finished the final inning with three runs on three hits to take a large lead. Grabsky recorded his third hit and his final two RBI of the night with a two RBI single. Grabsky finished with four RBI. The 15
th UWF run was brought in by
Dom Presto who entered the game in the bottom half of the eighth. He recorded an RBI outfield single.

The Warhawks put up two runs to shorten UWF's lead to 15-7.

Heath got the win and improved to 6-4 on the mound.
Gabriel Moorer followed up with 2.1 innings pitched. He led with four strikeouts.
Chase Stanhope finished strong on the mound for UWF in the final 0.2 innings.

Fryman went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Argos. He tallied three RBI and scored three runs.

The Argos will finish the series tomorrow (Apr. 19) with a 1:00 p.m. double header.
