OXFORD, Ala. --- The University of West Florida baseball team opened the GSC Tournament with a 4-3 win over 3-seed Delta State Friday morning at Choccolocco Park.

6-seed UWF advance to the winner's bracket. They will take on the winner between 2-seed AUM and -seed Shorter tomorrow (May 4) at 1:00 p.m.

UWF's first two runs were jogged in. The Argos led off the inning with two singles and a hit by pitch to load the bases.
Jadon Fryman grabbed an RBI hit by pitch to bring in the first run.

The Argos added a run in the sixth inning.
Jackson Grabsky struck out looking but reached base on a pas ball. The Statesmen threw back-to-back walks to load the bases.

Delta State shorten the Argos lead with an unearned run in the bottom half.

Now at a 2-1 lead,
Darrien McDowell shot a solo home run to bring the score back to a two-run difference. McDowell tallies 21 home runs on the season to lead all of Division II.

Delta State brought the game to a tie with a pair of runs in the eighth. The Statesmen led of the inning with back-to-back doubles to bring in run number two for the team. They capped the inning with an RBI hit by pitch to tie the game 3-3.

McDowell opening the ninth inning with a double. Fryman advanced McDowell to third with a sacrifice bunt to put him in scoring position.
Cade Easterbrook hit a game-leading RBI single to sit at top 4-3.

Dalton Neuschwander stepped in and got the save. He faced three batters for three straight outs to put the Argos on top.

Jacob Heath got the start on the mound and threw seven strikeouts in seven innings pitched. He threw three no-hitter innings and allowed no runs on five hits through the opening six innings.

Major Posey got his first win on the mound in 0.2 innings pitched. He made his appearance in the eighth inning and grabbed a strikeout.
