PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The University of West Florida women's soccer team prepares for final non-conference matches of the season on the road. The Argos will take on Lynn, Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 PM ET/5 PM CT at Bobby Campbell Stadium, followed with a showdown at Flagler, Sunday, Sept. 15 at 12 PM ET/11AM CT at Saints Field.Â

Argos grabbed a 3-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State and a scoreless draw against Minnesota State to open the season with a 1-0-1 record.

In the following match over MSU (Sept. 8), the Argos outshot their opponent 11-5. The Argos hit five on frame but none fell through in 90 minutes of play.

Argos Dominate Week 1 GSC Awards
Announced by the Gulf South Conference Tuesday morning, Swinton, Lipsey and
JoHannah Peterson grabbed conference honors.

After hitting a two-goal game in the season opener, Swinton was named Player of the Week. Swinton hit her first goal just 14 minutes into and followed with another goal in the 49th minute in a 3-0 victory over SMSU (Sept. 6).

Lipsey was named Goalkeeper of the Week after getting two shutouts over SMSU (Sept. 6) and MSU (Sept. 8). Lipsey recorded two saves in each game to uplift UWF to a 3-0 win and 0-0 scoreless draw over the weekend.

Peterson grabs a career-first weekly conference award – Freshman of the Week. The defender was the lone freshman starter and tallied 170 minutes on the pitch over the weekend. Alongside the back line, Peterson allowed two shots on goal from each opponent, while not allowing a goal in either contest.

About No. 21 Lynn Fighting Knights
The Fighting Knights are 2-0 on the season and ranked No. 21 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.
Lynn opened the season with a trip to Texas and defeated St. Edward's (1-0) and St. Mary's (2-0) on back-to-back days (Sept. 5 and 6). Midfielder Emma Geiges leads the team with three points off a goal and an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brooke Auth made seven saves and posted two shutouts.

About Flagler Saints
The Saint are 1-0-1 after opening weekend.
Freshman Cisel Akguel scored the match's first goal as Flagler College and Limestone University played to a 1-1 draw in a non-conference match at home (Sept. 5). Flagler extended its undefeated streak in season openers to 10 (8-0-2).

Following into Saturday (Sept. 7), Senior Andrea Fernandez scored a pair of goals and added an assist to help Flagler College defeat Converse University 4-2 in a non-conference.

Argos are 1-0-1 against the Saints. UWF's win came in 2008.
