PENSACOLA, Fla - The Argonauts of the West Florida Men's Soccer team closed out their five game home stretch in a Sunday match up against GSC opponent Delta State University. The Argos came into this match after a big win on Friday night over Mississippi College 5-2. In the Sunday heat, the Argos drew with the Statesmen 2-2 after a tough battle in the sun.
How It Happened
The Argos came out quick as senior
Keegan Ancelin got the scoring started. In just the eighth minute of the match,
Keegan Ancelin found the ball at his feet inside the 18yard box, and with just a few dribbles closer to the goal, the senior placed the ball perfectly between the keepers legs to put the Argos ahead 1-0 early.Â
Despite the early goal, the Statesmen fought back against the high pressuring Argos and secured two goals in the 17th and 23rd minute to put them ahead. The score remained 2-1 heading into the last 45 minutes of the match.
As the teams returned for the second half, the Argos were looking for the push ahead that they needed. The Argos outshot the Statesmen 18-9 in the totality of the game, but the brace that they needed came in the 79th minute as
Keegan Lynch found a loose ball in the box after a corner kick scramble, and the senior defender buried the ball in the back of the net to even the score to two all. Lynch was one of four Argos to also earn a 90 minute match of the day, and continues to be a strong assest to the Argo defense.Â
